Making "Notes" editable

Keeping a live summary of events to be completed and things to keep in mind while working on a file - all in one place is a valuable asset.  Everything I need to know for a quick update on the matter's status is then conveniently available.  In Conveyancer I could add & remove items from notes.

I accidentally put a note in the Notes section. It was meant to go in the Sticky Notes. When I learned that Notes was not editable, the reason being 'for file retention policy reasons', I was actually offended. It is MY file, MY notes, MY firm but apparently not MY policy. I think D&D should rethink this and at the very least make the notes editable by the person who created them, or the firm can set up their own options through their account administrator in their own firm to make the notes permanent.

Very unfortunate that they will not implement this.

The Notes section in Conveyancer was editable and I would like the same option available in Unity. It is the first place anyone picking up the file can go to obtain a quick summary of events on that file. The details of the transaction are constantly changing and therefore the Notes would need to be editable.

It could be a glirified post it note, as long as it could be expanded as the current post it note is too small. It is also important you can print from the notes page or post it note page.

The other feature within this is that in the old conveyancor you could hit f9 when in notes page and it would time and date the note as well as make a notation of who made the note. This was invaluable.

    Please reconsider implementing.

The software should be designed to help us do our jobs the way we like to do them, not you telling us how we ought to do our jobs. This was a very important part of conveyancor. Please find a solution.

PLEASE implement. We use this as our main file management tool, where we can communicate with each other on a file, have a running list of to do's etc etc. It is the most important part of how we manage a file. PLEASE RECONSIDER!

I agree with this post, previously on Conveyancer the notes section was editable.

I wish you had asked others about this before implementing as I religiously used the notes field but I need to edit my notes, I use it so others can log in, and I always select show notes on opening, and they can see what needs to be done on the file. What a huge dissappointment that I can't do this anymore, the sticky notes don't all show up in one place and can't select show them upon opening and the person going in has to go to the note. I used the notes field for days when my kids or I are sick and someone else needs to go into my files so they don't have to waste all their time looking to see what is needed. Would be great if you can make the note permanent or not instead of only having the option for it to be permanent. Nice you can hide the note now but I would like the option to just delete it once it's no longer applicable to the file.  Maybe when adding the note you can click an option for it to be permanent, and once you click that others can't change it.

Re Notes - this is my fault I think.   oops. It has it's benefits and disadvantages.

    - Can the note be it's own screen so you can go to another matter while the note is still open?

The new Unity Notes page was designed based on customer feedback. It was requested that the notes page be a diarization of events or notes that happened on a file, and that you should be able to edit or delete something from that record for file retention policy reasons.

The Sticky Notes can be used for temporary tasks and reminders that can be edited and/or deleted once complete.

We will be adding the ability in Unity to hide a note from the main Notes page view by the end of this year.
