Lawyer signing through Chrome

Is there any chance that Unity will make changes to its program to allow lawyers to sign request for funds and solicitor reports to mortgagees through Chrome? It is a real pain that the only browser we can use is Explorer.

    Alishia,

I am not 100% certain that this issue fully lies within your business partners. For example when the PDF document is pulled in from the portal for the Lawyer to sign it is pulled into and viewed from within Unity (albeit from your business partner). The overlay or presentation of that data to us (Do Process' customers) lies within the Unity application. to be more specific this is why as part of the Unity setup we are required to force PDF downloads. With the new restrictions of the modern browsers a web overlay allowing for inline signing would need to be added to the unity interface to facilitate the signing of these documents. This is a large reason why we are seeing such a strong uptick in DocuSign & Adobe Sign being used across multiple verticals including legal. The default adobe solution is clunky and not web friendly (read as flexible).

If I may a proposed solution:

    1. Enable the upload or integration with a signing cert as part of the integration creds for each lawyer. A good idea would also be to allow for signature and initials as well.

    2. Create/add and web overlay for specific areas in Unity for PDF's (like mortgage documents). Make it point and click for signing purposes then when you click you select the lawyer and then one of three "signing" options (Certificate signature, signature file or initials). A password set for each of these three options would need to be entered. This ensures security for all involved.

    3. The web overlay would then automatically re-save a newly signed PDF and re-upload it after clicking a hovering button (something clear and obvious indicating Save & Upload).

Using that as a rough framework you would mirror the general functionality of using Adobe BUT would not require anyone to leave the Unity application or framework.

I also support the idea of doing away with Internet Explorer which is ancient and finding a way to allow lawyers to sign the request for funds in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Why can this not be updated I don't know anyone who uses IE anymore as it is extremely outdated.

Also to download the form, print it, sign it and upload it seems to be very time consuming and we should be working on minimizing the time we spend doing such tasks not making the tasks more complicated. Unity needs to sort this out to allow signing these form through other web browsers. With the increase in fees for the files we should have better service and this area must be service better.

Good Evening Leah and thank you so much for your comment. This functionality is on our business partner side and is not within Unity. We have passed this request on to our business partners to consider it as an improvement to their application.

In order to sign in Chrome, you are able to save this document on your desktop and open the document with Adobe. You will then have the ability to sign the document from within Adobe. You are then able to upload the signed document back into the lender portal.

Please find below a link to our Electronic Mortgage Processing webinar that walks you through these steps:

I hope that this helps answer your question and that you have a wonderful day!

HI, has this request been forgotten about or is it still in future consideration ?

It would be extremely helpful to be able to sign request for funds and reports in unity in google instead of having to close our all files you are working on, exit unity in google and sign in under internet explorer, which freezes all of the time and is very very slow.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring on this one as well. As an FYI - IE 10 and older is no longer supported by MS (since 2016). The last remaining OS which Microsoft will support IE (10 and newer) on is Windows 10. Microsoft has already indicated that it is treating IE as an afterthought and is pouring its considerable resources into the new Chromium-based Edge browser. The option of multi-browser support in 2020 is simply no longer an option, it is a requirement.

While I am one of three others who have up-voted this I am fairly certain that the vast majority of the install-base for Unity would all want to see this feature and would respectfully ask that Do Process pressure your 'Business Partner' to modernize quickly. At the end of the day Windows 10 has a slated EOL of October 2025 and Microsoft has not indicated that it has any intention of ensuring IE will work in any future OS.
